The NBA and a group of major sportsbooks have agreed to restrict several player-prop bets, including parlays that combine unders on one player's stats. ESPN's Shams Charania and David Purdum reported the agreement, which Deseret News carried on 16 October 2026.
The banned bets, as the report lists them:
- Parlays involving "the under on multiple statistics for the same player."
- "First of" bets, such as who wins the opening tip, or whether a specific player records the first shot, rebound, assist or steal.
- Under wagers on players expected to average fewer than 12 minutes per game.
The report does not name the sportsbooks involved and quotes no NBA spokesperson. Its only league statement is a paraphrase of an August 2025 ESPN-reported statement that protecting the game's integrity is the league's priority. It gives no effective date.
For bettors, the change is narrow but direct. Same-player parlays built from unders, and unders on players who see limited court time, are the bets being removed. Anyone who builds same-player parlays should check what their sportsbook still accepts before placing the slip.
The report does not say which books have signed, when the restrictions start, or whether other leagues will follow.
