Digitain has appointed Dario Jurčić as chief commercial officer for Europe and Africa, hiring a senior platform executive away from Sportradar to lead its commercial push across regulated markets. The sportsbook and iGaming supplier confirmed the appointment in June 2026, with Jurčić tasked with strengthening Digitain's position in Europe and accelerating growth across Africa.
Jurčić joins from Sportradar, where he was senior vice president of iGaming and platforms. Before that he was chief executive of NSoft, the betting-technology firm majority-acquired by Sportradar in 2022, giving him a decade of leadership in exactly the platform-supplier space Digitain competes in.
In his new role he will lead Digitain's commercial strategy with a focus on Europe's regulated markets while advancing expansion across Africa, and will oversee commercial operations run from the company's European hubs in Malta, Romania and the UK, alongside a planned new Central European office. The reporting line and effective start date were not disclosed.
The hire reads as a deliberate talent transfer from the largest data and platform supplier in the sector to a mid-tier challenger trying to move up. Sportradar and NSoft sit at the infrastructure layer of betting, and bringing that pedigree into a commercial leadership seat signals Digitain intends to compete for operator accounts on platform credibility, not price alone. Europe's mature regulated markets and Africa's fast-growing, under-penetrated ones are the two fronts where a supplier's commercial leadership most directly decides which deals close.
"Throughout my career, I have focused on building scalable platform businesses and helping operators succeed in highly competitive regulated markets," Jurčić said in the announcement, adding that what stood out about Digitain was "not only the quality of its products and technology, but also its culture."
Ani Mkrtchyan, chief sales officer at Digitain, said Jurčić's "proven commercial leadership, deep understanding of the global iGaming ecosystem and outstanding track record make him an exceptional addition."
The geographic split in the mandate is telling. Europe and Africa are different problems sold under one title. Europe's regulated markets are mature, crowded and won on compliance credibility and integration quality, where Digitain is fighting for share against entrenched platform suppliers. Africa is the opposite: under-penetrated, fast-growing and opening through new licensing regimes, where the contest is to establish presence before the market consolidates. Asking one commercial leader to drive both says Digitain sees them as a single growth thesis, defend and deepen in Europe while planting flags in Africa, rather than two separate bets.
The talent flow itself is the story for the supply side. Jurčić's career runs straight through the infrastructure layer of betting: chief executive of NSoft, then senior vice president of iGaming and platforms at the company that bought it. In 2025 he was recognised by industry peers as one of Central and Eastern Europe's leading chief executives. A supplier landing that profile in a commercial seat is buying relationships and platform fluency, not just a name, and it signals that the competition among B2B providers is increasingly fought over senior commercial talent as much as over product roadmaps.
The appointment continues a run of senior reshuffles across the supply side of the industry as platform providers retool their commercial benches ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the licensing waves opening across African markets. For Digitain, the question is whether a single high-profile hire can convert into the operator wins in Europe and Africa that the role was created to deliver.
What to watch: the first named operator deals or market entries credited to Jurčić's commercial team, and whether the new Central European office materialises on the timeline Digitain has implied.
