**Alex Frost has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of UK Tote Group, with an ex-GiG chief operating officer to assume the role, marking the second C-suite change at the state-owned racing betting operator this year.**

Frost's departure concludes a tenure that saw him navigate Tote Group through regulatory scrutiny on online gaming, enhanced safer gambling requirements from the UK Gambling Commission, and competition from consolidated sportsbooks. He had held the role since 2023.

The incoming CEO brings senior operational experience from Gauselmann Group's digital operations division (GiG), where the executive held COO responsibilities. The appointment underscores Tote Group's strategic focus on operational efficiency and tech modernisation as the UK betting market consolidates around larger platform operators.

Frost said in a statement reported by SBC News: "It has been a privilege to lead Tote Group during a transformative period for UK racing and betting. I am confident the business is well-positioned for continued success under new leadership."

Tote Group, which operates the Tote brand and manages the Horserace Totalisator Board distribution network, has faced structural headwinds: horse racing's shrinking betting handle, tax increases on bookmakers' profits, and the shift of casual wagering to consolidated DraftKings, FanDuel, and Entain platforms. The operator has concentrated on safer gambling product innovation and data integrity partnerships with racing bodies.

The board has not yet disclosed a formal start date for the new CEO or confirmed the executive's full identity. A Tote Group spokesperson confirmed the transition is effective immediately and that interim operational oversight is in place.
