**Ontario's regulated online gambling market generated C$405.4 million in operator revenue in April 2026, a 29.4% increase year on year, according to figures reported by [rg.org](https://rg.org/en-ca/news/gambling-industry/ontario-april-2026-gambling-revenue-report?ref=igamingnews.biz).** The market processed roughly C$9.32 billion in total handle during the month.

The figures confirm a pattern that has defined Ontario through the first half of 2026: growth is driven almost entirely by online casino rather than sports betting. The province generated C$1.13 billion in operator revenue in the first quarter on C$27.8 billion of handle, and March set a record at C$9.59 billion in monthly handle.

At the province's 20% tax rate, Ontario is on track to deliver close to C$1 billion in tax revenue for the fiscal year. That makes it the clearest proof point in North America that a competitive, casino-inclusive online market produces durable public revenue.

The casino-led mix carries a lesson for operators eyeing Alberta, which opens in July. Sportsbook acquisition dominates launch marketing, but Ontario shows that casino is where sustained revenue accrues once a market settles. Operators that treat casino as an afterthought are leaving the larger pool of revenue on the table.
