**NorthStar Gaming Holdings Inc. (TSXV: NSBBF) confirmed Corey Goodman as permanent chief executive officer effective August 17, 2026, and announced the resignation of chief financial officer Chin Dhushenthen the same day, elevating Ben Powell to interim CFO.**

The three-part announcement from the Canadian operator behind NorthStar Bets also named Krisztina Kalla as VP of Compliance. The timing is the story here: NorthStar has been operating under a failure-to-file cease trade order that Canadian securities regulators issued on May 7, 2026, and that order is still not fully resolved.

Goodman had run NorthStar as interim CEO since December 8, 2025, when founder and then-CEO Michael Moskowitz resigned. Before that he served as the company's Chief Development Officer and General Counsel, and he is a co-founder of NorthStar. The company credits his interim tenure with "a period of financial and operational stabilization," including work to resolve the outstanding audit and reporting problems behind the cease trade order.

## A Promotion Confirmed Inside a Cease Trade Order

Converting an interim chief executive into a permanent one is usually a routine governance step. It reads differently for a small-cap operator that has spent more than three months under a regulatory hold for failing to file its financial statements on time. NorthStar's board chose to make Goodman's appointment permanent while that order was still active, rather than wait for a clean bill of health first.

Dean MacDonald, chair of NorthStar's board, framed the call as confidence in the record Goodman built during the interim period. "Corey has brought focus and discipline to the Company at a pivotal time, and the Board has full confidence in his leadership," MacDonald said.

The appointment is the latest in a run of iGaming leadership transitions this year that turn an interim title into a permanent one once a board judges the immediate crisis handled, echoing [Rank Group's own confirmation of CFO Richard Harris as permanent CEO](https://www.igamingnews.biz/rank-group-richard-harris-permanent-ceo/). It joins a broader wave of operator and regulator successions, including [Flutter's handover to Dan Taylor](https://www.igamingnews.biz/flutter-dan-taylor-ceo/) and [the UAE regulator GCGRA naming Ciaran Carruthers as CEO](https://www.igamingnews.biz/gcgra-ciaran-carruthers-ceo/), each built around a specific mandate rather than an open search.

## The CFO Chair Changes Hands Mid-Audit

Dhushenthen's exit lands at an awkward moment for continuity. NorthStar's financial statements for 2023, 2024 and 2025 remain outstanding, and Davidson & Company LLP was only recently engaged as the company's new auditor to complete them. The release gave no reason for his resignation.

NorthStar addressed the gap directly rather than let it sit open. Dhushenthen has agreed to stay on in an advisory capacity through completion of the outstanding audits. Goodman said the arrangement was built to hold the finance function steady while the numbers get finalized. "Chin has agreed to remain engaged in an advisory capacity, which will provide continuity as our auditors complete their work," Goodman said.

Ben Powell takes the CFO chair on an interim basis. He is a CFA charterholder who has been with NorthStar since its founding, with a background in financing and capital raising, exactly the kind of experience a company mid-cleanup on its books tends to lean on before it searches for a permanent hire. Powell inherits the seat at the point Davidson & Company's audit work is underway, not after it wraps.

Goodman and Powell's appointments, paired with Kalla's new compliance role, read as a management team assembled for the specific job of closing out three years of unfiled statements rather than a leadership slate built for growth. NorthStar's board did not dress it up as anything more. The contrast sharpens against peers such as [Gambling.com Group's promotion of co-founder Kevin McCrystle to CEO](https://www.igamingnews.biz/gambling-com-kevin-mccrystle-ceo/), a transition made from a position of reporting strength rather than from inside an active regulatory hold.

## The Cease Trade Order Outlasts the New Titles

Nothing in the August 17 announcements lifts NorthStar's cease trade order. That only happens once the 2023 through 2025 audits are filed and accepted by regulators, and the company has not given a date for when Davidson & Company expects to finish that work. Until it does, Goodman's permanent title and Powell's interim one are both provisional in the way that matters most: neither changes anything for shareholders until the missing numbers actually land.
