**UK sportsbook and casino operator Midnite has named Dale Tang, formerly a senior director at FanDuel Canada, as General Manager for Canada, the company confirmed on August 24, 2026.** Tang announced the move on LinkedIn on August 23\. Neither Midnite nor Tang disclosed a start date.

The appointment marks Midnite's first move beyond the UK and Ireland, the only markets it has operated in since launching in 2015\. Tang will lead the operator's entry into Canada's regulated provinces, a launch the company says is still pending licensing approval.

Tang spent nearly five years at FanDuel's Canadian business, most recently as senior director for commercial, analytics and retention, according to intergameonline.com. He also worked on FanDuel's entry into Alberta's newly opened private iGaming market and held a commercial lead role in Ontario. Before FanDuel, he spent three and a half years at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, including a stint as director of strategy development, giving him a regulator's view of the province's framework alongside an operator's.

That combination matters because Canada has no single iGaming licence. Ontario and Alberta each run their own regulated, competitive markets with separate registration processes, while most other provinces still route online betting through provincial lottery monopolies. An operator entering fresh has to clear each regime on its own terms, and Midnite is hiring the regulatory and commercial fluency rather than building it from scratch.

Midnite closed a $35 million Series C round in January 2026, led by Raine Partners IV, the growth fund of The Raine Group, with Play Ventures, Discerning Capital, Makers Fund and Big Bets also participating, according to a Business Wire release carried by Morningstar. The company said at the time the proceeds would fund product development and international expansion. Tang's hire is the first public sign of where that international push starts.

Nick Wright, Midnite's founder and chief executive, said in a statement carried by G3 Newswire: "Dale's appointment marks an exciting milestone in Midnite's journey to disrupt the industry. The regulated Canadian market is a huge opportunity for us to expand beyond the UK and Ireland, and bringing Dale on board is a clear signal of our ambition to build a truly localised, next-generation sports betting and casino experience that puts player protection at the front and centre."

Tang, in the same statement, said: "After five fantastic years helping to build FanDuel's presence in Canada, I'm very excited to be starting a new chapter as General Manager for Canada at Midnite. The opportunity to build something new in a market I know and care deeply about was simply too exciting to pass up."

Midnite has not named which province it will target first or confirmed a licence application timeline. Ontario and Alberta remain the only provinces with open, competitive iGaming markets, and both already carry crowded operator rosters including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and bet365.

## Midnite bought regulatory fluency, not just a hire

Tang's value to Midnite is not only his FanDuel client book. It is three and a half years spent inside a Canadian regulator's strategy office, followed by five years running commercial operations under the rules that office wrote. For a UK challenger brand with no prior Canadian footprint, that is the fastest route through provincial licensing that money alone cannot buy.
