# LuckyLand Slots Shuts Down, Sets September 14 Payout Deadline

**LuckyLand Slots, the sweepstakes-casino brand run by Virtual Gaming Worlds, stopped taking gameplay on August 24, 2026, and every player with a remaining balance now has until September 14 to redeem it before the brand disappears for good.** VGW confirmed Gold Coin purchases had already stopped on August 3, and the company says Sweeps Coins cannot be moved to any of its other brands, so anyone still holding a balance on LuckyLand Slots needs to act inside that three-week window.

VGW framed the closure as a strategic reallocation, telling CasinoBeats it is shifting focus to "our growing stable of other brands," naming Chumba Casino, Global Poker, its newer LuckyLand Casino product, and a Match 3 title called Monopoly Match. LuckyLand Slots had run for eight years and, per VGW's own figures reported by Casino.org, operated across 44 US states.

The shutdown lands during a rough stretch for the company. VGW's founder and chief executive, Laurence Escalante, resigned in July after being charged in Australia with domestic violence, burglary, property damage and drug possession, according to Casino.org. Mats Johnson is now acting chief executive. Chumba Casino, VGW's largest brand, has already stopped operating sweeps coins in 16 US states, up from just five at the end of 2024, as state regulators and attorneys general have moved against sweepstakes-style gambling.
