**Genius Sports has secured exclusive official betting data rights across 18 member leagues of the European Leagues association, covering more than 8,000 matches in 46 professional men's and women's competitions.** The deal lets Genius capture and distribute official data to regulated sportsbooks worldwide.

Beyond data distribution, the agreement rolls out the company's AI-powered GeniusIQ platform across the participating competitions, supporting player tracking, officiating analysis and fan engagement tools. Steven Burton, chief partnerships officer at Genius Sports, said the deal "significantly enhances the breadth and depth of official, premium data available to our sportsbook partners," per the [European Leagues announcement](https://europeanleagues.com/european-leagues-sign-landmark-betting-data-and-technology-partnership-with-genius-sports/?ref=igamingnews.biz).

The win sharpens a long-running argument over exclusive data. Rival Sportradar has publicly contended that exclusive rights limit competition and innovation. Exclusivity, though, is exactly what leagues sell, because a single official supplier maximises the value of the rights and the integrity controls around them.

For sportsbooks, exclusive official data means paying the rights holder or working from slower unofficial feeds. For the leagues, it converts match data into a recurring revenue stream. The structure of these deals, more than any single match, is what now shapes the economics of in-play betting.
